You are in Ischia, a small island off the coast of Naples in Italy. It is like a dream. First, smell the sea. Feel the swell of a wave push you toward the shore. The salty water against your skin is the feel of summer. Look at the green hills before you as you dig your toes into the sand. The dazzling beauty is almost too much.

You close your eyes, lay on your towel, and hear the crashing waves coming home. The background music is gossiping women speaking in Neapolitan dialect. Alongside them are frolicking children splashing one another. It is day’s end.

Sweet exhaustion is how you feel when you curl up in bed and cover yourself with a cold sheet. But that refreshing moment comes only after after you take a bite of the island’s famous Coniglio Ischitano, rabbit in a red sauce that is almost always paired with bucatini covered in the stuff.

Ischia is a mythical place. Its beginnings as a volcano meteorically rising from the sea are nothing short of magical, after all. Many athletes and celebrities are drawn to the place for its healing…
