Start Viewing Obstacles As Opportunities
Each obstacle is a step closer to your dreams
You never know what life is going to hit you with next, whether it’s bad weather, traffic, or even a flat tire. Life is just so unexpected and it’s hard to be ready for what’s to come next. Obstacles are no fun to deal with, especially when they come by surprise.
The life you want to live that is free from challenges and dark moments is unavoidable. There will be times in life where you’re tested and it’s up to you on how you’re going to take that test.
Are you going to just wing it and hope for the best or are you going to study your butt off for when it’s actually time to take the test? No matter which one of these techniques you use, life will still hit you harder than expected and will leave you clueless.
Obstacles aren’t supposed to be easy, they’re meant to be dealt with and they’re there to teach you a lesson. The more you take on obstacles head-on, the more ready you’ll be for the next one.
You can’t determine how life is going to go, it just happens and it does what it wants to. You have to be strong enough to adapt to whatever life throws at you. Use that obstacle as motivation to reach your goals and to become the best version of yourself.
They will never stop coming whether you like it or not, you can compare obstacles to the weather that’s in Florida. You can have a full week with sunshine and all blue skies and then another week with rainy days. The weatherman will tell you that the day will be full of sunshine but little do they know that it will start raining in the next few hours.
Life is unpredictable and you have to start embracing that. The sooner you can embrace, the sooner you will reach your goals and become more accepting of the world. Be grateful for the obstacles that come your way and start viewing them as opportunities. With more opportunities presented to you, the more options you will have to choose from when you decide it’s time to grow.
Complaining Doesn’t Do Anything
What gets done when you complain? Complaining is a habit that all of us are used to but we need to stop doing it for the sake of others and ourselves. Do you know someone who is complaining constantly? What’s your relationship with that person?
You probably don’t like hanging around them too much because all they do is complain. This is something that isn’t easy to stop but can be achieved with the right amount of practice and repetition. Once you realize that you’re literally wasting time complaining, you start to realize how easy it is to stop.
First, start off by trying not to complain about the little things. These little things include instances like complaining about things that are out of your control like the weather, people’s opinions, and the stock market. These things may not sound little but think about what you actually complain about on a daily basis.
Some of what I mentioned may sound horrible but they’re really not. Even if you couldn't stop complaining about them, what’s the point? These things are literally things that you can’t take control over. How are you going to change the weather? With the snap of your fingers? I didn’t think so. All you can do when it comes to weather is sit and wait for it to pass.
Learn how to adapt to the obstacles that fall onto you. It won’t be easy to but once you’re able to, life becomes a lot more stress-free. You need to keep your head up and see that the obstacle you’re facing with negativity can only be conquered with positivity.
The next time you get upset at life and want to question it, simply breather, smile, and have gratitude for the situation.
Obstacles Make You Think
Life can be boring at times, you don’t know what to do with yourself when everything is done and you have nothing to really work on. Well, when you’re working on yourself you will stumble into challenges.
Some of these challenges will be stressful, annoying, and may even make you want to cry. Having these emotions is good for the soul and it helps you to not be bored. When you’re absolutely bored, it’s one of the worst feelings in the world because you feel like you should be doing something but you can't.
It’s like you’re stuck in your own head for hours at a time. I’m not saying that you should go find an obstacle to free you from boredom but to just be more thankful for them when they come around.
Using your brainpower to defeat these obstacles is what makes you feel fulfilled and it’s what makes you feel like you’re doing the right thing. How much time do you waste in a day thinking about nothing or spending your thoughts on social media and the constant negativity that comes from it?
Be thoughtful of how you spend your day-to-day and use that energy you have from thinking about nothing to face different obstacles that come your way. Some challenges require more thought than others, this is where life starts to get questionable.
We have different levels of difficulties when it comes to a certain challenge. It’s almost like we’re in a video game and each level we go through gets easier or harder depending on the skill level we have. Life by no means is a video game but treating it like one every now and then can make these obstacles more enjoyable to go through and overcome.
These obstacles are increasing the potential of what your mind can really do. Have you ever faced a challenge where you thought it was impossible to overcome and you end up surprising yourself?
There’s almost no better feeling in the world than when this happens because you proved yourself wrong. Self-doubt is a powerful thing and we need to get rid of it as much as possible before we face our next challenge.
You Have the Opportunity to Overcome Them
The gift you have, that you should be realizing is the opportunity to overcome your obstacles. Start being more excited for challenges, when the universe looks at you facing these obstacles in a positive way, it will make sure that the challenge will reward you.
Behind every obstacle is a lesson to be learned, sometimes that lesson is tough to accept, and sometimes it makes perfect sense. Knowing that you are gifted with a lesson when facing any obstacle is a blessing.
Tell yourself something like “Even though times are hard now, the universe has something greater in store for me.” If you believe in God, then you can replace the word universe with God in the statement I just made.
All obstacles are gifts in disguise, you just have to be willing to see through and believe in yourself. Once you believe that you can overcome any obstacle whether it's with family, friends, or even the law, you won’t be worried about the outcome.
Patience is the key to overcoming your obstacles. Start viewing the obstacles as opportunities and you will grow as a person. I’ll leave you with a quote from Michael Jordan that says
“Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”
