Stop Saying You’ll Try. It May Be the Reason You’re Failing.

Why we need to stop “trying” and start committing

Let me be completely honest here for a minute.

I’ve been “trying” to be a writer for the past decade.

I’ve seen some success—I’m enjoying the process, people are reading/commenting on/sharing my articles, I’m getting accepted into publications, etc.—but I’m still not at the place I’d like to be with my writing.

The ideal vision of my life as a writer in terms of what a typical day looks like, the income I’m making, the kind of impact my writing has on people, etc. doesn’t line up with my current reality.

And I think I finally know why.

We Want to Try Something New, but We’re Scared

Maybe you can relate to the situation I shared above, or maybe you have your own “thing” that you’ve been wanting to try for far too long.

Most of us have experienced this at some point in our lives. There’s something that calls to us, that we believe deep down we should make a real go of. We think that if we just put in serious effort and really committed to it, we’d be able to make it happen. Some part of us believes we could be a success at it.
