The Importance of Ending Your Day Right
Going to bed feeling at peace
One of the most exciting thoughts that you probably have throughout the day is when you think about what you’re to do when you get home from work or when you’re workday is over. You start thinking about movies you can watch, t.v. shows, and even a late-night snack that you know you shouldn’t be having but it's “one of those days.”
Unfortunately, most of us start to plan out what the end of our day is going to look like but we never follow through with those plans. Either something comes up that’s important, or we’re working on our side hustles late into the night, and our phones end up distracting us which doesn’t allow us to actually enjoy our night.
You should be making an effort to actually have a nice ending to your day. This may not be possible to do every single day due to your busy schedule but this should at least be done a few times a week.
Do you not have enough time to make sure that you’re happy at the end of the day? Your happiness is what’s most important in your day-to-day life so you might as well work on having it when you get a chance to which is usually at night.
Everyone’s schedule is different but if you have a life where most of your responsibilities are happening during the day then you should be looking into what makes you happy at night.
It sucks having nothing to look forward to during the day, this is what causes most of us to be depressed when the sun is up. In order to avoid this depressive sequence, start making a mental list of things that do give you happiness.
Things that are possible for you to do with at least an hour in your hands. Save these things for when you’re about to go to bed, going to bed knowing that you tried your best to implement these things into your night will allow you to go to bed with a smile.
It gets stressful thinking about what we have to do the next day, it even prevents us from getting the rest that we deserve and need. Staying up late stressed out about how your following day is going to go isn’t healthy and is the reason why you need to have in mind the importance of ending your day off in a good way.
Rewarding Yourself At the End of the Day
When you look back at your day, are you proud of what you’ve done? Or can you at least admit that you’ve done a lot? Being able to reward yourself on a daily basis can be done during any part of the day but you probably have the most time to yourself at the end of the day.
Now, rewarding yourself can be done in many ways and this doesn't mean that you have to go buy yourself something every night that gives you temporary happiness.
Rewarding yourself can be done by watching a movie, calling up friends and family, or even listening to music. These are all great treats you can give yourself daily without having to spend a lot of money or any money at all.
You don’t want to run your pockets empty when trying to treat yourself. Every now and then it’s okay too but ultimately the choice is yours. When you’re able to reward yourself, you feel good about the amount of work you’ve put in through the day.
It’s also hard to go to bed feeling happy when you feel like most of the work that you’re putting into your responsibilities, your family, and yourself goes unnoticed.
This can actually make you feel like you’re wasting your life at times but you’re not. You’re doing what you have to do to survive and to grow so even if you are feeling like you’re going unnoticed, you always have yourself.
Best believe too that a higher power is watching over you and it’s not taking what you’re doing for granted either. This leads to the point of being able to reward yourself daily, you want to feel like you’re worth something, and the sacrifice that you have to make here is just time.
The hour that you would spend before bed strictly on social media needs to be sacrificed for something better like becoming one with your thoughts and listening to music that makes you appreciate the life you’re living now.
Being Ready For the Next Day
Other than wanting to go to bed happy, you should also be wanting to go to bed feeling motivated. As you may know by now in your life, being motivated can help you to get a lot of things done but it seems like we don’t use it enough as a culture.
At the end of your day, you may think about everything you may have to do the next day but what if you can actually feel excited about that next day? That’s right, you don’t have to have anxiety about the next day all of the time.
Of course, you’ll have some big things coming up in your life that may keep you up at night but what about most days? Your regular days should be ended with you having a sense of motivation for what you can do that day.
Think about the day you just had, ask yourself how it could've been better, and use those ideas to help you out when you wake up tomorrow. You go to bed happier than the day before because you’re putting those intentions in your mind of wanting to get better.
There will be some days where you may feel like you’re going backward but like Nipsey Hussle and Vladimir Lenin said “Sometimes you have to take one step back to take two steps forward.”
Life is not easy and it gets harder the more you learn about it but if you’re doing the job of fighting the battles that are in front of you and making sure that you’re ready for the next day, then you’ll live with more confidence and more peace.
Usually, when you to bed feeling motivated you usually wake up feeling motivated which is even a better feeling, a feeling so powerful that you feel unstoppable!
You can do better the next day and you will as long as you’re doing your best to do so. End your day off motivated by looking at the mistakes you’ve made in the past and also looking at the person you want to become in the future.
Nothing beats the present moment but you have to have a picture of where you want to get to in order for you to make a plan of how to actually get there.
The plan will be derailed at times and you will be knocked off of your course but life has something in store for you even greater than you can ever imagine.
You just have to have trust in the Higher Power and in the world. Be patient, your time is coming as long as you stay motivated and keep pushing each day at a time.
Remembering to Take Care Of Yourself
This time at the end of your day should be focused on your health and how you feel. These two things align with each other and they’re very important to how you’re able to rest before waking up the next day.
Having a daily night routine that you can go to for comfort is good to have when feeling down in the dumps. This routine will be really helpful to you when you have a day where you feel like nothing is going your way.
Your mental health is also important for your brain before you go to bed too. Think about what you’re doing to your mind when you’re on your phone all night until you fall asleep.
You’re going to bed feeling envious of others have and negativity that circulates around the internet. If you’re going to be on your phone for this long at least make sure you’re reading some positive articles about life or some funny videos that make you laugh.
Ending your day off on a good note has a lot of benefits, you just have to put in the work to understand what those benefits are. Strive to be content with life before going to bed, it’s a lot better than going to sleep angry. I’ll leave you with a quote from Bing Crosby that says
“When I’m worried and cannot sleep I count my blessings instead of sheep.”
