We entered this new decade with optimism, but no sooner had the year started, Coronavirus (Covid-19) took over our lives.

Those of us that are lucky enough to have a job have become stressed about job security. Those of us that are lucky enough to be able to afford food are worried about whether there is going to be any food in stock. Those of us that are lucky enough to be able to work from home think about how we can keep our kids occupied when we’re on a conference call.

Suddenly we all feel the squeeze — both metaphorically and physically — of being locked-down with our nearest and dearest.

Of all of those that worry about the above, a shocking 1 in 7 employees (5 million people across the UK) will have additional worries because of the caring responsibilities they have for loved ones.

In these turbulent times, we should ask what lock-down means for the person who used work as a respite to get some headspace away from their other job, caring for their elderly mother who has dementia?

We should ask what lock-down means for the person who wants to work from home, but needs to calm her son who has autism because he is becoming increasingly stressed about being cooped-up?

What does lock-down mean for those who have dependents over 70 now they have been instructed to isolate for 12 WEEKS?

What does lock-down mean for those who look after a partner with motor neurone disease (MND) who worry about passing a cold, let alone a virus as dangerous as Covid-19?

If you don’t know what lock-down means for the huge number of people in your workforce who juggle work and caring responsibilities for loved ones, Curo can help.

Please contact us at hello@curocarers.com for more information about how we can support you, your colleagues and your staff during this troubling time.
