But there’s one group of people taking doomsday prepping to a whole new level of consumption, complete with “flammable moats”: Billionaires.
What billionaire doomsday prepping looks like
The world’s richest people now have sufficient money to buy enormous tracts of land and large parts of islands for their own personal doomsday prepping. Mark Zuckerberg, for example, is using part of his Meta fortune to buy most of the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
Zuckerberg is not stopping at just buying the land. For years, he and his wife Priscilla Chan have been creating a giant “compound” — costing hundreds of millions of dollars — that includes an underground bunker, a cattle ranch, and acres of macadamia nut trees.
