1. Study Timer added to Dashboard

The Study Timer used to live on its own page but now lives conveniently right on the Dashboard.

(It shouldn’t get in your way if you’re not using it, however — it’s not Clippy.)

2. First Social Features

The question of which social features will be fun and motivating is a big one, especially given the priority I give both privacy & minimising distractions when considering features for Curriculum, so we’ll be taking baby steps here.

The first step is this simple community activity feed.

Isn’t that distracting me from studying?

At this stage, you won’t get notifications or alerts about others’ activity. And if notifications are added, you’ll be able to opt-out.

Currently, you have to go over to the Community page to see what others are up to (if you want).

But what about my privacy? What if I don’t want to share my activity?

Don’t worry — by default, every person on Curriculum is opted out of sharing their activity. If you want to share activity, you’ll have to go to your settings and choose ‘My profile should be public and positive snapshots of my study progress should be shared on the Community page’ under ‘Privacy’.

Important: Even if your profile is marked as public, you can choose to make a topic private, or a particular learning resource/project private. You’ll see these settings when editing either a topic or a resource/project.

No activity relating to private profiles, topics or resources/projects will be logged or shared.

I find it motivating to see others’ study activity! I want to see more!

Awesome — me too. :) I’ll be trialling more opt-in social features throughout the year, to see what’s most fun and helpful, so be sure to check the new things out when they’re released. You can also let me know your thoughts or ideas about Curriculum, learning or Clippy at any time. 🌟

Lifelong learner but not yet signed up? If you’re looking for a way to create a study plan and track your progress, check out Curriculum. And if you’ve got thoughts or feedback to share, send ’em my way.
