The newest applicants for batch 2324A are coming in hot: with iconic moments, questionable missions, and diverse personalities seen all throughout CURSOR.

PetShApp — as they call themselves — are a little over halfway through the current application process. With a total turnout of 49 applicants, PetShApp first elected their app batch officers:

Ellie Lim as Secretary

Chloe Santos as Treasurer

After their bit–byte bidding process, the applicants went through their first acquaintance party, where applicants, alumni, and members alike got to bond over food, drinks, and gimmicks.

Held at Palma Hall, PetShapp was introduced to CURSOR’s seven standing committees, along with their roles in the organization and their respective members. The applicants then raced to complete a game of human bingo, with MemComm sigs as the prize.

The event was wrapped up by a skit from ActiComm: which involved a comically long Starbucks order, questionable dance moves, and humans dressed up as trees. Finally, the members and alumni gathered into a circle and did the organization’s signature cheer, with the soon-to-be Sexies at the center of it all.

CURSOR, sexy!

And then, there comes what is perhaps the most anticipated event of the application process: Missions Week. Unlike previous app batches who got missions through Discord or Messenger, the PetShApps have to approach members face-to-face in order to receive a mission from them. It is within this week where we see CURSOR traditions cycle afresh, with new iterations of Pokédex entries, Mickey Mouse dances, committee tierlists, and cursed videos alike. Bits and bytes got to bond over their missions together, and some members even joined in on the fun of doing missions.

After the excitement of Missions Week, the applicants settled down into the next parts of their application process: the SEED training and committee internships. The executive committee gave training sessions via Zoom to orient the applicants on the basics of navigating through each committee.

The training sessions helped the applicants to better decide the committee in which they would intern under; this would allow them to have a firsthand experience of the organizational work required in CURSOR.

For the rest of the applications process, the PetShApps are still yet to experience Titans: UP CURSOR’s head-to-head rap battle competition; the Batch Project: a culmination of their hard work throughout the app process; and the final interview.

When asked about their plans for their batch project, PetShApp head Drei Ragasa said the event will be something pasabog and enjoyable.

Be sure to look out for what PetShApp has in store! There will be games and prizes for both members and applicants. “It will be something fun, but also helpful and very timely. Maeenjoy ito ng lahat.”
