The sparkle of Urbanist and Technologist — SideWalk Labs Talk

Great Talk about AV policy @sidewalk-talk

11/17 Thursday night. SideWalk Labs started their first talk about AV policy at HudsonYard. There were around hundred of urbanist and Technologist gathering together and trying to find the pain point of the AV policy. There were several topics are summarized as follows:

1. Data Privacy: the dilemma in data transparency and personal privacy.
2. Job Market: What is the impact of AV to Job market. Will the machine takes human’s job
3. Transportation Safety: Does the AV do improve safety?
4. Traffic: Will the traffic be better when AV is on the road?

There are more than the questions above were brought up in the talk. It was a fascinating brainstorming Thursday Night. Meanwhile, there are more and more questions are brought in our front but a little of them are testing by the current urban settings. One of the reason is hard to implement could be the connection between urbanist and technologist are not tied. I really believe that through this talk. There will be an intersection of idea which can tackle the problem. Moreover, I think that host event such as hackathon that brings hackers toward hacking our living city would be a great thing that worth to try on.
