A Look Into: The Venus Project
Beyond Politics Poverty and War.
“The Venus Project proposes an alternative vision of what the future can be if we apply what we already know in order to achieve a sustainable new world civilization. It calls for a straightforward redesign of our culture in which the age-old inadequacies of war, poverty, hunger, debt and unnecessary human suffering are viewed not only as avoidable, but as totally unacceptable. Anything less will result in a continuation of the same catalog of problems inherent in today’s world” — Jacque Fresco, The Venus Project
Jacque Fresco is this super-human being (as some of his colleagues and admirers would love to believe) that inspite of being a forerunner in the field of Human Factors, Architecture, Sustainable Living and many more, is in the true sense a leader who is in someway — someone trying to bring about a change in this world against the policies of politics, the politics of poverty and the spoils of war.
As Alison Rivlin says in a chapter of her book (“The Revival of the American Dream” in one of the excerpts “The Dream, the Reality and Some Solutions”) and I quote — “The American Dream may sound vague and grandiose , but it means something concrete and important to many Americans. It means an economy in which people who work hard can get ahead and each new generation lives better than the last one”.
I do agree that this article may not describe this ideology in the exact same context as she might have intended, but nevertheless I shall draw relations on the idea in the meta-physical sense. The idea here is to reveal why Jacque Fresco and his vision to implement a better world and a different order, is in itself a viable solution to most of the problems we face as a race trying desperately to survive and thrive in this eco-system which we are so tirelessly trying to consume and save at the same time.
This could also be classified into a wicked problem of sorts due to the simple fact that pulling off a project or even thinking of pulling something of this magnitude, requires not just a certain strength of character or the need to strive to achieve greatness but the enthusiasm to continuously endure despite the day-to-day hurdles (to say the least) one might come across to reach the zenith of this peak — an ever-changing scenario of solutions with a continuous increase in the problems that it tries to solve can be the deciding factor of why this can be classified into a “Wicked” problem.

The release and plan for this project has been set in stone since its inception and as Jacque said very recently on his 100th birthday (how he manages to live a long life and humanity struggles to survive just long enough for a life, is beyond my pay grade — if I dare say, ever have one) — “I wish to see this world change in my lifetime and I will do everything in my power to stay alive until then”.

The Phase Release Program for The Venus Project:
Phase 1 : Research Center
The first phase of The Venus Project’s long-term plans has already been completed. Jacque Fresco, futurist, inventor, industrial designer and founder of The Venus Project and his associate Roxanne Meadows have completed the construction of a 21-acre research center in Venus, Florida to help present the proposals of The Venus Project.
Phase 2 : Documentaries and a Major Motion Picture
Phase Two includes the release of two documentaries to help introduce this direction to the world: Paradise or Oblivion and The Choice is Ours.
Phase 3 : Experimental Research City
To test its designs and proposals, The Venus Project is working towards implementing its ideals into practice by the construction of an experimental research city of sorts. Blueprints for most of the initial technologies and buildings have begun. They are at present currently working towards the construction of this first experimental city.
