One of the most subtle ways in which Dad empowered me was feeding me with this incredible idea, “Make tea to please thyself, not others.” In a society where the essence of womanhood is measured in terms of the aroma of tea that her hands can prepare, he begged to differ. And that, for me, defined ‘freedom’ — something that could open a locked mind, something that could unleash a hidden potential sans the fear of getting judged or over-used, and something that made you believe your hands can craft something even better.

Tea is neither a compulsion nor a custom. It is one of the ingrained stuff that impart us our ‘Indian-ness’. Tea is one of those things you learn along the way. And then you can just relax and enjoy a sip and write yourself a post worth reading!
