Superfood Mulberry’s Tangy Twist

Mulberries have multi-health benefits such as improving digestive health, antioxidant and anticarcinogenic properties, prevent macular degeneration and cataract, healthy skin, and boost heart health and body metabolism. Indeed, it is a superfood!

Ripe mulberries are tasty, but do you know we can prepare tangy mulberry chutney to savor with meals or snacks? Here, I present a simple recipe to make a chutney. You can make it tangy, sour, or even sweet by adding various amounts on of sugar, chili, and/or jaggery.

Mulberry Chutney Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Raw Mulberries: 200 grams
  • Green Chili: 1–2 pieces
  • Green Coriander Leaves: 10–12 plants
  • Mint Leaves: 5–6 plants
  • Salt: 2 teaspoons
  • Turmeric: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fried Cumin powder: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Jaggery/sugar: 2 teaspoons

Preparation:

  • Wash the mulberry in water.
  • In a mixer grinder, add mulberries, green chilies, coriander leaves, mint leaves, salt, jaggery/sugar, turmeric powder, and cumin seeds/powder.
  • Grind it to a paste.
  • Store in a glass bowl.

Bonus Mulberry Drink

Take the paste of two- three teaspoons of Mulberry chutney and add salt (as per your taste). Add a cup of water and mix well.
Tasty drink is ready to serve. You can keep this refrigerated for few days and serve chill. It works wonders when taken in empty stomach.
