Wonder why north facing solar panels are the most desired for better production of solar electricity? The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, meaning that your solar panels facing in the north get more exposure to the sunlight from 12 to 4 pm maximum. Therefore, as rule of thumb, your panels produce most of the energy at this time than any other time. It will also allow you to save excess energy in your storage system or export them to your grid to get better Feed-in-tariff (FiT). Hence, the maximum generation of electricity from the north.

On the contrary, east-west facing panels also produce better energy but 11% less than the north facing panels Why??? Well, east facing panels get more exposed to sunlight during morning, which is ideal for doing your household chores, such as dishwashers, washing machine etc. Whereas, getting more time during afternoon while being exposed to the west ensures better use of air conditioner or heater once you are back from work.

Although, it is advisable that you must face your panels to the north to get better electricity generation, your entire planning regarding the orientation of solar panels depends on how you wish to use it or how you wanna make it to the best tariff. Think carefully, decide wisely, install promptly, and get your solar savings unlimited.
