If you are a traveler or love camping, this blog will help you figure out what size solar panel do I need for camping?

When you are camping during summer, you probably use a portable fridge, 12 Volt LED light, portable stereo, and phone charger, which are important parts of your camping. Also, you can get the benefit from the summer sunlight by using solar panels to power-up your camping appliances.

In this blog, I am going to discuss Google’s most searched question “What size solar panel do I need for camping?”

So let’s roll into the topic.

What size solar panel do I need for camping?

Let’s consider,

Portable Fridge has = 50 Watts

12 Volt LED light has = 6 Watts

Portable stereo has = 30 Watts

Phone Charger has = 24 Watts

If we use it 8-hour approximately we need:

Portable Fridge = 50 x 8 = 400 Watts

12 Volt LED light = 6 x 8 = 48 Watts

Portable stereo = 30 x 8 = 240 Watts

Phone Charger = 24 x 8 = 192 Watts

Total = 880 Watts

Let’s think, we have the solar panel with 100 watts (each with 20% efficient level), we will get 20 watts per hour and if we get 10-hour average sunlight, we can get from a panel (20 x 10 ) = 200 Watts.

Now, we need solar panel:

880 / 200 = 4.4 or 5

So, you need a total of 5 (100 watts) solar panels for your camping.
