Looking Back…

It has been just under 1 year since CyBall was nothing more than an idea, a concept, a thought.

The idea of bringing a football themed play-to-earn game to the blockchain was born in June of 2021, which coincided with the time when the crypto gaming movement began gaining traction. Since the end of Q2 of 2021, we have now witnessed the growth of a large ecosystem around blockchain games, and it has barely begun. CyBall has had many challenges that we’ve had to overcome, and has also had some major milestones and successes along the way. As we approach the one-year anniversary, let’s take a look at the CyBall journey so far.

On November 4th, 2021 we held the World’s first Triple IGO Event across three different platforms: BinanceNFT, CyBall, and GuildFi. This NFT sale event sold out in under 1 minute and at the time, was record breaking with a trading volume of 10M on Binance NFT within the first 7 days.

We started our raise in July, by beginning talks with our immediate network. After many conversations and pitches, in December 2021, we announced the completion of our seed round raise of $1.8million with BITKRAFT leading the round. It was a tough raise with many groups that we could not squeeze into the round. However, we are very satisfied with the partners and backers who understand and align with our vision. Some of our other backers include Yield Guild Games, Ancient8, Avocado Guild, Animoca Brands, Ascensive Assets, Coin98, GuildFi, Kingsway Capital, Merit Circle, MetaGoons, Raydium, ROK Capital.

We were also lucky enough to gather the support of many influential figures and thought leaders within the space to advise and help guide the initial direction of CyBall. Our Angel investors and advisors include Gabby Dizon (Co-founder of YGG), Trung Nguyen (CEO and Co-founder of Axie Infinity), Darren Lau (Founder of The Daily Ape), CryptoPathic (Crypto OG), Tascha Punyaneramitdee (Co-founder of Alpha Finance Labs), Loi Luu (CEO and Co-founder of Kyber Network), Kevin Lu (ex-Band Protocol), Calvin Chu (Core builder of Impossible Finance), Brendan Wong (Co-founder of Avocado Guild) and Or Perelman (CEO of Chromia).

On January 17th we released our Alpha version of CyBall along with our bug bounty program for the community to be involved with the initial development of CyBall and to get a taste of what was to come.

Not long after, on Feb 19th,2022 Co-Founder Tin Tran had an interview with CoinDesk, where he shared his insights about the p2e scholarship model and why it is inevitable that Southeast Asia would be the world’s first region to see widespread adoption of blockchain games.

CyBall officially launched on Feb 22nd,2022. We had an initial DAU base of around 8k members, a lot of whom came from early stage guild partners. To date, CyBall now has 17k daily active users and over 70k account sign ups.

Season 1 of “ROYAL RUMBLE”, our very first Guild League, ran from April 7th to May 16th 2022. Season 2 started from May 17th and is currently ongoing. As mentioned in the previous articles, our early Guild League Seasons will be a simplified league where Guilds are ranked based on the performance of their CyBlocs’ Win %. In the future, these guilds may be directly competing against each other in a knockout style tournament to determine the best.

CyLoans V2/Flash Mentoring was introduced on April 22nd 2022 which aims to streamline the mentoring process and to make it a more seamless experience for end users. Nicknames, Clubs, & Guild Leaderboard have also been pushed out as well.

In terms of raw numbers, we are now up to 70,000+ signups with 17,000+ DAU, Discord Members: 85,800+, Twitter Followers: 62,300+ & our all time NFT trading volume is at 12M.

What’s Coming?

CyBall Reborn is estimated to be launched by the end of May / early June. The Windows and Android versions will be out first, followed by MacOS and iOS within the coming weeks once we have all the required certificates sorted out. For the first month or so, users can technically still play using the existing client even when Reborn client is out. However, you will miss out on all the fun that we have been working hard at developing if you choose to do so!

Here are some of the several highly anticipated features after CyBall Reborn is out!

First, we intend to prioritize Custom Room so that users can play friendly matches with each other, followed by 5v5 and Training modes, and then Leagues and Tournaments. We also intend to release our special, limited edition Mutant series CyBlocs which are meticulously detailed by our talented Arts team in between the above updates. These mutant skins are planned to be sold for $CBT and will hopefully be one of our major upcoming $CBT burn events.

Stadiums are next in the list, which are planned to be auctioned off for CBT and/or CYB. We intend to strategically release these slowly so that owners of stadiums get full exposure to the benefits that come with them. In the future, CYB (governance) token holders can also elect for these stadium owners to get some form of rewards/yield.
