FAQ: Manchester CyberStart Elite Camp
We are just days away from our very first Elite Camp! The whole team at CDHQ have been working around the clock to get everything ready and ensure you have a fantastic weekend.
This weekend our first Cyber Discovery Elite camp will be taking place. We have worked hard to create an event that will not only be educational but also rewarding and fun. Over the two days of the camp, you will get the chance to compete in a live Capture the Flag competition, test your skills by working on a hackable robot arm and meet some of the creators behind the Cyber Discovery programme.
Recently we have had lots of questions through social media and email about what to expect, what you need to bring and most importantly — will there be food? In this blog post, we have answered some of our frequently asked questions.

Can I be dropped off outside the venue?
No, your nominated adult must bring you into the venue and sign you in with a member of our team.
Do we need to bring our own devices?
We will be providing laptops during your time at the camp. If you would like to bring your own devices, please bear in mind that you will be responsible for them.
What time do we finish on Sunday?
We will be finished by 5pm on Sunday so your parents and guardians will be able to collect you from then. We ask that all parents and guardians arrive on time, collect you from inside the venue and sign you out so that we can ensure all students leave safely.
Is food provided?
We will be providing food and snacks for the duration of the weekend. All dietary requirements that have been mentioned beforehand will be tailored towards.
What will we be doing in the evenings?
We are excited to say we have a company called Chronyko coming in to lead an evening of fun, immersive challenges which will help you develop and exercise a range of skills needed for a successful career in cyber security.
What should I bring with me for the challenges?
We will be providing everything you need during the challenges and activities, but if there is anything specific that you would like to use, please feel free to bring this with you as long as it adheres to our code of conduct.
What shall we wear?
Whatever you feel comfortable wearing!
Will I have to check in to the hotel myself?
Unless you have made other arrangements with the Cyber Discovery team, please come straight to the event venue on Saturday morning. Your hotel accommodation has been taken care of. We will check you in and provide you with everything you need at the venue during the day.
