World Teachers Day: A Big Thank You!
Today is World Teachers Day — a day to celebrate the incredible work teachers do to support and encourage young people on a daily basis.
We wanted to take this opportunity to send our personal thanks to all of our teachers that became club leaders and supported the Cyber Discovery programme.
Cyber Discovery is an important component of the UK’s National Cyber Security Strategy, providing young people with an opportunity to begin the journey towards an exciting and challenging career in an ever-increasing digital world. Club leaders had a monumental impact on the first year of the programme.
71% of students, who answered our survey, reported hearing about Cyber Discovery from their school teacher.
Without your support and encouragement, we would not have found and developed the phenomenal talent that emerged from last year! For this, we would like to say a huge thank you!
However our mission does not stop there.
This year, we want to encourage more students to take part and inspire more teachers, parents or volunteers to become club leaders. We intend to find more hidden talent and provide even more students with the opportunity to discover they are fantastic at cyber security.
How can you help?
- We encourage you to promote and urge students with a variety of interests to have a go at Cyber Discovery this year. Your help in encouraging as many young people to register and attempt the initial online assessment is key to us uncovering this field to as many students as possible.
- If you know of any other volunteers that could register as a club leader, we would love for you to pass on this message and get them to sign up here. Whether they are a careers advisor, head of year or a teacher of any subject, the only requirement for students to succeed is for them to be given the opportunity.
- Run a Cyber Discovery club. A Cyber Discovery club has been shown to significantly support students in their learning, by giving them access to computers and also a dedicated time and place to work through the challenges with like-minded individuals.
