The Cyber Discovery programme is open for new and returning students. Nearly 24,000 students took part in the first stage, CyberStart Assess, last year. In this blog, we round up some exciting new additions to the programme and what to expect if you are a returning student from Year 1.

We’re open to students across the whole of the UK!

This year, Cyber Discovery is open to all students residing in the UK who are aged 14–18. We are extremely excited to expand the programme and discover even more hidden talent!

Returning students can pick up where they left off.

For those students that took part in year 1, your progress has been saved. You can pick up where you left off when each tool reopens this year. For those who did not qualify for CyberStart Game last year, we recommend you try our new set of challenges in CyberStart Assess, improve on your score and attempt to qualify for the next stage CyberStart Game. Here you will take on the role of a security agent and dissect a cyber criminals digital trail.

Brand new CyberStart Assess challenges.

CyberStart Assess has a brand new set of challenges for Year 2 so even if you made it past this stage last year, why not get your brain ready for the challenges ahead by tackling these new puzzles. CyberStart Assess will test your problem solving skills and see if you have what it takes to be a cyber security expert!

92% of students who answered our survey rated their CyberStart Assess experience as “good” or “very good”.

New content in CyberStart Game.

CyberStart Game will have lots of new content this year including a whole new base focusing on forensics! Top performing students from this years CyberStart Assess phase will also qualify for CyberStart Game. You will be able to access CyberStart Game from the 15th of January 2019.

“I absolutely loved taking part! I got pretty hooked on the rush of investigation and problem solving.”

CyberStart Essentials dates will not clash with exam season.

We listened to your feedback last year and have moved the opening dates of CyberStart Essentials so that this phase is open before the exam season begins. This year, CyberStart Essentials will run from the 5th of March 2019 to the 29th of April 2019 giving you plenty of time to absorb the new content and catch up on modules you missed last year.

“I was genuinely disappointed when Essentials closed, because it meant I lost access to an amazing resource that went well beyond what I had learnt in both GCSE and A-Level classes.”

We can’t wait to see what you all achieve this year!
