Following the first closed beta test in August 2022, our game dev team has made a couple of updates to bring our users more fun and excitement. The updates include as follows:

New Map Added: Topori Town

The new map titled Topori Town is to be added from the 2nd closed beta test version which is to be released in Feb 2023. Topori Town is based on a land where a previously peaceful village becomes isolated and overrun by unforeseen events. Compared to Cannonball Town, the current map, Topori Town has several different pathways and rugged terrains. These features will enable users to make unorthodox attacks and enjoy more dynamic battles in a different atmosphere from the one in the existing Cannonball Town map.

Cannonball Town Map Improvement

Overall, we upgraded the map theme to reflect the irony behind the story of Cannonball Town where the once bustling town now turned into an off-the-beaten-path town but its weather is still bright and shiny. We have added various new terrain features, which can be used to impede players’ movement or dodge attacks from other players. Meanwhile, the team removed unnecessary or out-of-place objects on the map. These changes will enable users to make a variety of battles based on their strategies using updated features.

Game Character Balance

  • Max

Max is one of the most played characters during the 1st closed beta. His dash skills are excellent for both chasing and dodging. Since this character has a strong skill advantage over other characters, we added a delay in his action to balance it out. When players perform skills with Max, the action will occur in 0.35 sec, previously 0.2 sec in the 1st CBT version.

Other Updates

_Improved Character Appearance

  • All characters will have facial expressions in addition to visually improved skin tones, appearance and other features.
  • Users can see that all Trouble Punk characters have more colourful and distinctive appearances.

_Character Movement Options Expanded

  • In the 1st closed beta version, users can move their characters in eight fixed directions.
  • From the 2nd one, users can operate its characters in all 360 degrees.
  • When players use a gamepad for gameplay, they can implement more various attack scenarios in every direction.
  • In the case of gameplay with a keyboard, players can finetune character operation as they can manipulate its characters with a wider variety of patterns.

_Coin Drops Improved

  • Previously, when coins are dropped during gameplay, one or two players dominated most coins.
  • From the 2nd closed beta version, the team expands areas of coin drops and programmes random coin drop points instead of clockwise locations.
  • Visual effects for coin drops are improved, which allows players to enjoy a more dynamic game experience.

_When players move their characters in a short distance, characters no longer slide onto the screen.

_Given more content are to be added, the lobby background graphic has been improved.

Bug Fixes

The team has fixed the following issues/errors:

  • The issues where the game is frozen on an infinite loading screen when the game started in a player matching screen;
  • The errors when players run a game on their sub monitors; and
  • The screen errors where a camera angle shifts upon players entering the game lobby

Future Updates in Preparation

Various in-game items and map gimmicks will be added such as:

  • Sonic Mine: When obtained, it is marked in the character’s bag so other users can recognise the characters have this item. The item can be thrown or hidden in front of the character within a 1m distance and will be activated in 1–2 seconds. It will be triggered when the enemy is detected within a certain range.
  • Soda Pop: When players throw the item in a parabolic motion, the Soda Pop puddle is created, causing a decrease in the character’s movement speed and manoeuvrability. The item can also be used to catch up to a chasing enemy or to make various variables during battle plays.
  • Bomb Bike: When used, the character’s HP is fully restored. During use, the item cannot be released at the player’s will. It also can be used to inflict damage on enemies by manually guiding the enemies.
  • Tracking Bomb Drone: Within a short time, the item allows users to track nearby enemies and damage them when the enemies are detected followed by an explosion. It will automatically disappear if there are no enemies or after a certain amount of time.
  • Vertical Booster: A rocket, helping the character’s vertical movement, is created next to a bag. The item also allows the characters to move without hassles on terrains. However, the booster effect disappears after a certain amount of time.
  • Healing Tent: When used, all of the character’s HP is restored. If the characters are attacked during use, the recovery is cancelled. The recovery state cannot be cancelled at discretion. Recovery takes 7–10 seconds; during this time, the character is in an unarmed and vulnerable state. Thus, players should use it in a safe and desolate area.

Also, new game characters will be added so that users can continue to enjoy playing Trouble Punk with various characters.
