1. A happy Chinese New Year to all!

All of us at Hong Kong-based CyberMiles wish everyone a very happy Chinese New Year! 2019 is the year of the pig — a symbol of wealth

For those of you who participated in our Red Pocket giveaways, note that CMT can be easily exchanged into USD. But hold on, and hold onto yours as it’s your ticket to many exciting apps and merchandise to come!

2. A new DApp: CommunityVote

CyberMiles has a unique governance structure, a transparent process for validator nodes to vote on on-chain governance issues — software upgrades, stolen fund recovery, economic parameter changes, etc.

This month, we introduced a new DApp on the CyberMiles blockchain, which will support community inputs on important governance issues related to CyberMiles’ foundation.

The CyberMiles Foundation developed the CommunityVote DApp to allow CMT holders (i.e. the CMT community) to share thoughts and opinions on governance matters. As a community, we work together to make CyberMiles better. It’s a key element for CyberMiles’ community autonomy. Learn more at cybermiles.io.

3. The best real application CyberMiles can achieve in 2019

Are you following CyberMiles on Twitter? Simon, a loyal CyberMiler, asked Dr. Michael Yuan, CyberMiles’ chief scientist and co-founder, a very apt question about our best real application on the horizon.

Our goal, Dr. Yuan explained, is to have real volume e-commerce applications running on CyberMiles this year. Though far from easy, the holy grail of blockchain applications since the early days of Bitcoin is clear: people finally able to purchase stuff using crypto.

4. CyberMiles sponsors USC’s first ever “Blockathon”

In effort to build a decentralized future, the University of Southern California in Los Angeles is hosting its inaugural blockchain hackathon, Feb. 16–17. Sponsored by CyberMiles, #Blockathon is a chance for burgeoning developers to dive deeply into blockchain and the plethora of opportunities in the space that need solving. Student will work alongside hackers who are eager to make the infrastructure and applications that will power a new decentralized web. Learn more at blockchain.usc.edu.

5. ICYMI: CyberMiles’ Dr. Lucas Lu on list of top 40 blockchain influencers of the year

ICO Alert finally has released its Top 40 Blockchain Influencers of 2018 list. Among the diverse, inspiring blockchain and crypto professionals on this list: CyberMiles’ own Dr. Lucas Lu.

“The people on this list represent innovation and courage — one is more impressive than the next,” Andrea Finch, ICO Alert’s Head of Marketing, said. “They’re leaving their ‘safe’ traditional finance jobs and risking it all on their belief in blockchain. They’re federal regulators who are standing up for our cause. They’re in developing countries — where the implications of cryptocurrency are so much greater than what we see on a daily basis — quite literally changing lives, because having a bank account or having direct access to your money simply isn’t possible.”

Without further ado, check out the Top 40 Blockchain Influencers of 2018.
