Together with Vladimiro (@v_sassone) and Sarah (@Sar_martin81) we attended in the magnificent venue of the Royal Society in London the EPSRC event ‘Science for a Successful Nation’.

The role of EPSRC in UK research

The event showcased the impact on the society of the EPSRC investment. The event was centred around four ‘Prosperity Outcomes’ Connected, Healthy, Productive, Resilient. There were about dozen exhibitors from all the UK testifying the wide spectrum of EPSRC-founded research, from healthcare and music, to energy and cybersecurity.

As part of the Resilient prosperity outcome, Cyber Soton was selected as the only cybersecurity exhibitor. The topic of our stand was

Service Ledger: next-generation blockchain for a resilient nation

We showcased the latest successful research outcome from the H2020 SUNFISH project: Service Ledger. It is as-a-service blockchain solution for underpinning decentralised computation ensuring integrity, lack of centralised control, and availability.

Here the banner gratefully produced by EPSRC for us and the stream of the SUNFISH videos. All the video can be found on the SUNFISH website http://www.sunfishproject.eu/multimedia/

Our key distinguishing message was the Cyber Security Academy:

an innovative way for industries to collaborate with Academia towards new business opportunities and a secure national cyberspace

Here some publicity material we had and an IoT challenge board. a concrete result of a collaboration with Roke Manor Research Ltd. The board is used to train student and professional making them ready to face the real cyber challenges of protecting, e.g., our home cyberspace.
