Just four months ago, a lot of us were going about our daily activities, unaware that our lives were about to be altered drastically. At Cyboticx, team members woke up each morning, dressed up for a day at the office, and went home at the close of work to repeat the routine the next day. But now, things are different, and we are sure you know why. All around the world, we are struggling to come to terms with a world overrun by a deadly virus that has taken thousands of lives. One of the most important recommendations for staying alive and safe is social distancing. Social distancing means we can’t go to work or schools or, most times, even take a walk.

What social distancing meant for Cyboticx

While a lot of companies had to shut down due to the inability of their team members to come into the office daily, Cyboticx is one of the few that have been able to adopt a work from home approach. As a Software Development and Creative Design Firm, we have always been at the forefront of adopting cutting edge technologies to set the pace in our industry. As part of our mandate to make our establishment a safe space for all, especially our team members, we adjusted our timeline to accommodate the work from home initiative. And it has been quite a journey. Despite the uncertainty of our current global situation, working from home has cast a beautiful light on the otherwise gloomy scenario. We have team members who have become more productive and happier as they are able to build up a convenient routine, one that works for all of us.

A new dawn is upon us

Can we really get back to how we were pre-COVID 19? We have a fantastic answer to that. Twenty years ago, the concept of working from home would be considered impossible but not anymore. This is the 21 stcentury, and we have achieved exploits when it comes to technological advancements. We have gadgets that make the distance between two continents seem like nothing. We have the internet that has made the world a global village. We have countless tools designed to encourage team members productivity with ease. So, we have decided to adopt the work from home initiative into the fabric of our organization. Since the COVID-19 pandemic came to light, we have had to adjust to working from home. However, we have decided that it doesn’t have to end after the pandemic is over. Working from home signals the beginning of an era at Cyboticx that we are only too glad to embrace. We haven’t had a child rush into the “office” while on an online team meeting yet, but we know that a lot of humor awaits us as we adjust to this new reality.

Working from home has allowed our team members to explore their creativity. This doesn’t mean that we are completely eliminating working from the office. After the COVID-19 is over and everything slowly starts to get back to normal, we will be working on getting everyone to work from home more. However, those individuals who will be required to work from the office will be free to do so. As a company present in the USA, Poland, and India, this allows us to be more inclusive. Once upon a time, people would say that they can’t be in multiple places at once, but technology has made it a possibility. With a conference call, we can connect with team members in three different countries comfortably. That is us being in multiple places at once.

The statistics don’t lie

There are also statistics that prove that working from home is a better standard, which helps team members maintain a better work-life balance. A Harvard Business Review study was carried out on US Patent and Trade Office workers, and their findings were impressive. They discovered that when they transitioned to remote work, the workers’ output increased by as much as 4.4 percent. Another Stanford study which had a sample size of 16,000 employees in a Chinese travel agency had similar findings. They discovered that working from home resulted in an increase in employee satisfaction. There was also a higher level of employee retention. Remember how happy employees are less likely to quit? It really is true.
