Fraser River to False Creek
Vancouver Bike Route #3
All Vancouver Area Bike Routes
You can create your own variation based on where you live by comparing the route to the official Translink bike route maps for Metro Vancouver.
This route starts at the Sapperton Skytrain Station in New West and ends at Bomber Brewing in East Van, running along the Fraser River in South Van for the first main section, heading north on the Arbutus Trail and then chilling out along the False Creek sea wall before ending at Bomber Brewing Co.
Hey, all routes need to start and end somewhere, so why not?
There are many great places to stop along and have a rest and snack at the various picnic areas along the Fraser River.
An interesting aspect about riding along the Fraser River is that one gets a sense of Canada’s economy moving in slow motion. For example, here is Canada’s economy just floating there in the river, not doing much:
You can also see Vancouver’s economy thriving along the same trail, for example, in the art mural section of the trail, where artists are presumably getting paid to paint things along the fence.
You can also see some great examples of Vancouver’s real estate economy along the same trail:
If you keep cycling along this economic powerhouse of a bike trail, you will see a sign that points to ‘Beer’ at Kent and Crompton, literally, which is an especially vital component of the cycling economy.
Of course, it leads to Dogwood Brewing, which specializes in ORGANIC beer:
Eventually the Arbutus trail peters out at False Creek near Granville Island along the sea wall, which has plenty to do, or not do, because you can always choose not to spend money at all and watch everyone else spend their money instead, to boost Canada’s economy.
If you follow this route strictly, you will end up directly at Bomber Brewing, which you will immediately recognize by its iconic orange air hose so that cyclists can get free air for their tires.
