This route starts at the Moody Centre Skytrain Station and ends at Krause Berry Farm, with a pitstop in ‘downtown’ Fort Langley. Note that the route details shown below are for a one-way trip, so to get back to where you started from, multiply by 2 accordingly.

You can create your own variation based on where you live by comparing the route to the official Translink bike route maps for Metro Vancouver.

Port Moody to Fort Langley:

Instead of taking Allard Crescent from 208 St to Fort Langley, there’s also a gravel and dirt trail closely hugging the Fraser River banks that you can take instead, if you prefer to minimize exposure to traffic while getting a nicer view.

Fort Langley to Krause Berry Farm:

The Moody Centre station is adjacent to Rocky Point Park in Port Moody, which is the heart of the craft beer and truck foodie scene in the Tri-Cities. You cross the bridge over the train tracks from the Skytrain station to get to the multi-use trail along Murray St. which becomes Guildford Way east of Ioco Rd. Presently there is a curb protected greenway along Guildford Way into Coquitlam Centre being completed that will make its bike riding shoulder even safer.

It’s probably a good idea to get your pint of beer at the end of this route, not at the start! Remember, there’s over 100km ahead for you, so you don’t want to start the ride tipsy.

From Coquitlam Centre, ride into Town Centre Park up to David Ave, then go east and catch the PoCo trail at the Coquitlam River. Go south, through ‘downtown’ PoCo to the banks of the Fraser River, then cross the bridge into Pitt Meadows. Take the rural side roads south of Lougheed Highway (crossing at Old Dewdney Trunk Rd) and get yourself onto the dyke trail.

Your first taste of quaintness will be at Osprey Village, at the south end of Bonson Rd. You might also taste other things, like the ice cream at Sweet Tooth Creamery.

Coming out of the refrigerated ice cream shop, along the river you will see the next milestone of the trip, the Golden Ears Bridge that you have to ride over, which crosses the Fraser River. It has nice wide pedestrian/cycling lanes on either side of it.

From the top of the bridge, you get a nice view of Barnston Island.

At the end of the bridge lane, there’s a nice Curly Q ramp back down to ground level.

This is how you get down from the Golden Ears Bridge

You then have some pleasant miles to ride along the south banks of the Fraser River, passing through farms, campgrounds and parks on your way to Fort Langley proper.

A Cycle Sage route article wouldn’t be complete without an official recommendation for a pitstop. My favorite hangout joint in Fort Langley is Mangia e Scappa, a cool, bright, large and breezy Italian cafe with a great Italian vibe and friendly staff.

After your pit stop hanging out in Fort Langley and checking out the scene, continue on to Krause Berry Farm (as per the route map above). Off 72 Ave there are some cool stops as well, such as a BBQ truck, a distillery and a brewery, so get your map app out and explore a bit more if you have the energy. Along 248th St (which is where Krause Farm is located) there is also a honey shop and other organic farms to explore.

Of course, now that you’ve reached the end of this route, you have to head back! Remember, the Port Moody craft brewing scene is at the true end of this journey :)
