March Madness

March was an exciting month for almost everyone who’s working on anything relevant in the blockchain landscape, and that view was held true tenfold with Celo and their growing ecosystem. With so much going on ranging from AMA events, technical updates, to ecosystem growth, there definitely was enough excitement to keep our hands full here this issue. Enjoy!

#MakeItMobile Hackathon

On March 5th, Celo kicked off an exciting hackathon hosted on the Gitcoin platform that’ll be taking a call to action for developers across the world who’d like to contribute to this space with meaningful contributions. How so? If it’s not sorely obvious by now this industry is filled with terrible mobile UI (unless you’re Rainbow or Cosmostation) for one that’s being catered to “shaking up” the financial industry and providing more hands-on solutions to consumers in various manners. Celo believes that to continue to usher mainstream adoption we need to focus on mobile solutions that resonate with more than 6 billion smartphone users worldwide. With that note and figure that’ll only continue to expand as time progresses at an even more rapid pace, Celo’s #MakeItMobile Hackathon is a great way to get hands-on with their platform and test, create, and demonstrate new ideas that could shape future mobile experiences globally for those interacting with Celo and their mission.

Global Ambitions Pushed Further

The United Africa Blockchain Association and TechTec of Japan recently received various support and grants for their ambitions to further expand Celo’s financial inclusive ambitions to shape ecosystem outreach in their respected localities. With the UABA program focused on a program under “Train the Trainer” their mission is to provide proper channels in education for communities on how the Celo platform and other beneficial blockchain initiatives can help shape their everyday lives. While there’s a ton of vaporware still out there who gets hands-on in communities like this in hopes of expanding on a false premise, it’s nice to see Celo help pivot those interests into a more legitimate direction in hopes of providing real solutions to those interested. TechTec’s angle here is a tad different, but nonetheless still impactful. With their grant support, it seems based on their announcement that their ambitions are more catered to the enterprise angle, PR, and research for their local trends etc. Still impactful for sure in their own way. TechTec is partnered with a wide range of respected networks, many we share similar interests in so this was definitely cool to see them making news again on another network we’re familiar with.

AMA’s

On March 13th, BEN Africa hosted an AMA with Celo that touched on the relevance of Stablecoins, and how impactful their influence could be within Africa. Stablecoins can bring on a new era of financial inclusion to any region that allows access/accepts these new assets within their own financial markets. It’s a pretty interesting topic that many seem to overlook at times but I’m excited to learn more myself about this angle of Stablecoin relevancy.
