[Week in Review] IRISnet #2
A brief discussion regarding developments within IRISnet, community topics, and what to expect in the future
First Month Live
After a full month since mainnet was launched, the excitement within the IRISnet community is stronger than ever! With everyone now getting settled back in from a month of launch parties, we’re still seeing tons of reasons to still be celebrating weeks later. Recently a fellow validator in the community, PoS Bakerz shared some great stats on Twitter regarding token economics and awesome network feats for Q1. Currently, 26.2% of existing IRIS tokens are bonded within the validator community which totals out to 512.5 million. Even though there are currently no legitimate exchanges where investors can safely purchase tokens yet, I think this is a great trend that’s being established early on. When token holders understand the potential benefits of staking they’re then exposed into a whole new market of opportunity that allows their assets to not only be the guardian for the network but also expose new ways for them to seek more returns comparing to that of traditional practices. This past month we’ve also been able to see growth within the validator community as well. From the initial launch till now we’ve been seeing a steady increase in the number of active validators. At the time of writing, there are 98 active validators and 10 jailed. I’m excited to see just how many more validators will be coming into the network in the coming months.
Optional Update Release
On April 2nd, the IRIS team released an optional update for the IRIS hub, v0.13.1. This update comes at the start of the month in anticipation for an eventful month in project development.
The Future Is Looking Bright
With Q1 now in the books, I’m sure we’ll see more exciting network updates and contributions coming from the team and community that will put IRISnet one more step closer to the project’s goal. With having a successful month under the networks belt I’m hopeful we’ll also be seeing the IRIS token introduced to exchanges before the end of Q2. I know my fellow team members at Cypher Core are very excited about what this coming month will bring for the IRIS-Hub.
