Cosmos
Cosmos launched Cosmos Signal, a high-impact quarterly keynote, where they will reveal the latest exciting developments and showcase stunning new products in the Cosmos ecosystem. This is a very exciting feature and a way for Cosmos to show all the new and exciting things happening in a futuristic, high quality, visual way. Cosmos said that this creation “marks the beginning of a new era for our community” and we couldn’t agree more. Several new projects joined the IBC gang such as Terra and Injective. Cosmos also announced a partnership with blockchain gaming platform Forte to bring its industry-leading technology to the Cosmos ecosystem. Forte builds necessary blockchain infrastructure for game developers, such as cryptocurrency wallets that store virtual assets and NFTs, in a secure, easy-to-use, and fully compliant package. Through this partnership, Cosmos hopes to reach new users and solidify its spot as the leading blockchain ecosystem. Cosmos also announced the HackAtom VI, the biggest hackathon in Cosmos history with $1,000,000 of ATOM in prizes. This hackathon will last for an entire month online and is accompanied by in-person events in major world cities. Sagan is a new chain coming to Cosmos which will allow experiments with new initiatives with greater speed and efficiency. Finally, Cosmos has partnered with Asia Digital Bank Bianjie to further expand Cosmos’ footprint into the enterprise blockchain space.
IRISnet
In preparation for the upgrade with the integration of Terse IBC (TIBC) module and refactored NFT, IRISnet announced their IRISnet Bug Bounty Program IV with rewards to make sure the upgraded network remains stable and robust. Technology contributor of Cosmos and IRISnet, WenChang Chain, will support IP.PUB by promoting the trustworthy global circulation of Chinese traditional artwork NFTs. This development will further expand the interchain NFT developments in the Cosmos/IRISnet ecosystem.
Akash Network
This month Akash Network crossed over their 25,000 milestone for number of deployments. They also released an awesome new product roadmap for 2022 which details their plans for the next few quarters and second half of 2022. They also announced a partnership with Kava Labs to provide decentralized hosting for the Kava ecosystem after Kava Labs chose Akash as their preferred distributed cloud hosting solution. Kava and Akash have a long standing relationship and this just marks another step in their journey’s.
Osmosis
Osmosis had a big announcement late this month including a $21M sale of tokens from the Osmosis Foundation treasury, in a round led by Paradigm. Other investors included Robert Leshner’s scout fund, Robot Ventures, Nascent, Ethereal, Figment and Terraform Labs CEO Do Kwon. Osmosis also broke $50M 24 hour volume for the first time this month, which was a huge milestone. Stargaze joined the IBC gang this month with Osmosis being its first peer! Regen Network
e-Money and Regen Network have collaborated to bootstrap liquidity on Osmosis DEX. The $REGEN:$EEUR pairing will be $REGEN’s first stablecoin pairing on Osmosis. Nearly a year and a half since the Regen Network engineering team stepped in as lead maintainers of the Cosmos SDK, the team has come out with another update on their development. The team has had many audits done, including one for their IBC module. They also created ‘Release QA Checklist’ to ensure thorough testing and quality of all changes made since the last major release and the ‘Module Readiness Checklist’, which each new module of the SDK must go through before being tagged in a published release. Through the team’s improvements and through the introduction of this process, the number of RC’s has dropped by 50% (from 8 RC’s for Stargate, to 4 RC’s for v0.43)!
Juno
Juno is now live on its own mainnet since Oct 1st. This month Juno went through their Moneta upgrade which will bring interoperable smart contracts to mainnet. Moneta will bring CosmWasm 1.0 smart contract module that will open up the path to innovation and adoption on Juno and provides the Cosmos ecosystem at large with a powerful environment for smart contract deployment. The mainnet currently has operational relayers to the Cosmos Hub, Osmosis, Sichain, Regen and soon to every other network in the Cosmos ecosystem. Juno has become the latest IBC-enabled chain to be integrated with Emeris Beta. Juno has now been listed on Coingecko and staking is now available on the Cosmostation Mobile Wallet. Juno is now available on Osmosis as well! Juno is going through a lot of exciting changes right now and developing fast! Excited to see what’s next.
Umee
Umee announced Phase 1 of their incentivized testnet, Umeevengers: Rise of the Umeevengers, that will lay the groundwork for Umee’s Mainnet soon to come.
In addition, Umee will have generalized testnets on the horizon for the Umee UI as it gets its finishing touches.This month Umee’s CEO/Founder Brent Xu sat down with Defi Times in a wide-ranging discussion regarding Umee at large, Cosmos, and more which can be found on Defi Times. Brent Xu was also a keynote speaker at Persistence One’s Rise of the Cosmos virtual conference. Umee concluded a meme contest this month to give back to the Umee community and to expand the Umee community to many new members.
Terra
This month Terra became one of the latest major players to join the Cosmos IBC Gang bringing its LUNA token and popular stablecoin USDTerra (UST) with it. This addition will enable vast liquidity to flow freely between major chains which will help to enhance the trading experience on Cosmos’ DEXs and drive adoption of Cosmos’ DeFi protocols, such as Gravity DEX, Sifchain, Coinswap, and Osmosis. Chainlink price feeds are now live on Terra testnet as well! Terra encourages ecosystem developers to begin testing and building today with Chainlink Price Feeds. Wormhole V2 UI now supports Terra meaning that users can seamlessly port assets between Terra, Solana, Ethereum, and Binance Smart Chain via a single, unified interface. This comes after Wormhole Guardian has been operating smoothly on Terra’s mainnet.
