In which we describe a Very Big Week for the DACA Time Team
Hi there,
First, if you’re reading this, you’re likely a follower of our publication here on Medium. Thank you for your interest and support! We hope you’re enjoying sharing in our journey.
The last several days have brought us to several significant milestones along that journey, significant enough that we thought we’d send you this note to let you know what we’re up to.
Our First Release
First, as we wrote about earlier, the very first release of the DACA Time application is live and ready for closed beta. This initial release, while admittedly and intentionally lean and low-polish, has been a labor of love for the last four weeks for several months of the team, and we’re tremendously excited to begin validating our product with our users!
Our First Grant
On May 21, the we presented our mission and vision to a group of over 100 socially-minded attendees of Columbus SOUP’s Spring SOUP event and were honored through the crowd’s votes with the Columbus SOUP grant!
The graciously-donated funds will help us keep the lights on, so to speak, as we continue to work on our product and provide us with opportunities for growth as DACA Time continues to take shape.
We simply cannot thank enough this wonderful community of philanthropists for their encouragement, enthusiasm, and support. Columbus is truly an awesome place for social entrepreneurs.
Our First Media Nod
Finally, this morning, our local radio station aired and published a story on our work, which you can read here:
http://radio.wosu.org/post/applying-daca-app-may-soon-be-able-help
This is hugely significant to us not only because they deemed our nascent venture worthy of their audience but also because the attention was completely organic. That’s right — WOSU heard about us through the grapevine rather than our reaching out to them to pitch a story idea.
I’ll say it again and again: the support of our city for causes like ours is amazing.
What’s Next?
We have a lot of exciting things planned in the weeks and months to come, so we hope you’ll stick with us here on Medium and on Facebook as we continue along our journey toward making an impact for the DACA community.
Until then,
The DACA Time Team
