Frida Kahlo: Natural Woman
This spring, the New York Botanical Garden will host an exhibition about Frida Kahlo and her relationship to nature. Kahlo always included references to nature in her paintings. Although she is better known for her expressive self-portraits, her still lives are remarkable for their power and sensuality.
Kahlo had a deep interest in plants and botanics. Her house in Mexico City has a stunning garden. She may have grown herbs for her kitchen as well as medicinal plants, as is traditional in Mexican culture.
We can’t wait for Spring!
