Foreword

I remember watching in awe as my Dad breathlessly navigated the world when I was a kid, seemingly knowing everything. Fix a toilet? No problem. Oil a cricket bat? Hand me the rag. Design and build our entire courtyard? Done and done.

My youthful imagination formed the now long-held belief that the moment you’re bestowed with this great knowledge, this great power, is the moment your first child is born. As that day nears for me, I’ve come to recognize how misguided that belief was. I have no fucking idea what I’m doing. And the clock is running out!
