DadLife: Having fun with Video

When I grew up (in the 80s), taking video of kids was insanely complicated with massive heavy cameras and really expensive. Now, all you need is an iPhone and you’re ready to rock. He good part being you can take a lot of video without it costing a lot of money. The bad part is you have to then watch all those movies…or worse yet show your friends all those movies and bore them with long drawn out clips that have 3 seconds of what you actually want to showcase with 5 minutes of randomness.

A fun activity that Nate and I have started playing around with is making videos with iMovie on the weekend. Whenever we go somewhere cool or fun, we’ll take video clips and then put it into a movie with sound and effects. It’s a fun activity for me and Nate enjoys watching the finished product.

A big bonus is that our family and friends get a good laugh out of them and they are only ever a minute or so in length (so no more 20 minutes baby video watching sessions for 4 seconds of comedy).

Kids grow up so fast and these types of videos tend to make you realize just how fast they are growing up.
