50 Companies and projects from all over the world have joined forces to decentralize and democratize access to Artificial Intelligence through blockchain technology

DAIA — the Decentralized Artificial Intelligence Alliance — founded in May 2018 to unite companies, nonprofits and labs working on systems and tools to decentralize and democratize access to Artificial Intelligence, has reached 50 global partners on july 3.

The achievement goes hand in hand with the announcement of DAIA’s co-founder, Toufi Saliba, stepping into a more active role as President of the Alliance. Mr. Saliba describes his motivation for this move in stark terms: “The one and only danger in AI is the potential abuse of power by those who control it. If we don’t act now, we are likely to settle for nothing later.

Initially founded by Dr. Ben Goertzel and Simone Giacomelli, co-founders of SingularityNET, and Toufi Saliba author of TODA/IP, founder of ACM AIDecentralized, DAIA has created the world’s largest network of decentralized AI projects aiming to cooperate and solve some of the most pressing issues of our time. Companies from all over the world have joined forces in DAIA to share technologies, best practices and expertise, demonstrating a clear collective vision for achieving powerful decentralized AI through blockchain technology.

In the words of Dr.Ben Goertzel, co-founder of DAIA and CEO of SingularityNET,

“Reaching the 50th decentralized AI related project to join DAIA is an exciting milestone and Toufi’s new role in the Alliance is wonderful news for the whole ecosystem. Since DAIA started in 2018 it has been gradually gaining momentum, fostering critical discussions between decentralized AI projects regarding interoperability, shared business development and the emergence and evolution of intelligence across networks. In 2019, we are seeing more DAIA members launch mature and scalable versions of their networks, which gives more focus to the interoperability discussion.”

The 50-member milestone captures an important metric, providing early validation to the thesis underlying the formation of the Alliance. “For those of us who want the emerging global AI mind to have its growth guided in a participatory and democratic way, reflecting the full richness and diversity of human ingenuity and human values and culture, this is an incredibly critical time” Dr.Goertzel notes.

From addressing global migration with AI, like Migranet, or building open source projects enabling the new “data economy”, like Ocean Protocol, DAIA is proud to count on the support of all 50 of its members. These include projects such as DeepBrain Chain, a decentralized neural network building a data exchange, Raven Protocol, a distributed deep-learning training protocol and iCog Lab an AI research lab from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia just to name a few.

Regarding his new role as DAIA President, Mr. Saliba states :

“My number one priority as President of Decentralized AI Alliance is to find seasoned startup GP(s) to manage and run a $100M fund, we began working on last year. We already have significant investor interest such as $100M matching when supporting projects building AI with strong security by design such as Autonomous Decentralized Governance.”

We have some big plans for DAIA for the second half of 2019 and 2020, including a cross-project DAIA hackathon planned for Fall 2019,” adds Dr. Goertzel.

DAIA welcomes the participation of all projects that are sincere about democratizing AI and creating the tools and ecosystem to achieve this result. The open access networks that have come together to form DAIA are enabling such a democratization process, but there are many components required to realize such a vision and additional participants are being actively solicited.

ABOUT DAIA

Initially founded by Dr. Ben Goertzel and Simone Giacomelli of SingularityNET and Toufi Saliba of TODA/IP, founder of AI Decentralized, DAIA has created the world’s largest network of decentralized AI projects aiming to cooperate and solve some of the most pressing issues of our time. DAIA believes that technology should be developed in a manner that is: 1) decentralized in governance and control, 2) judiciously open, 3) transparent and privacy compliant, 4) participatory, 5) inclusive, 6) resilient, 6) creative, 7) ethically understanding and 8) compassionate. The core motivation of DAIA, to foster the development of decentralized AI technologies, emerges from the desire on the part of Alliance members to ensure that the ongoing rise of AI is aligned with human values, including the full breadth and diversity of human culture and understanding.
