DAIA is running an entire AI track at the BlockShow Asia Conference in Singapore November 14–15.

DAIA Chairman Ben Gortzel is giving the opening keynote speech on “Stimulating Massive Network Effects in Decentralized AI Networks”- The next wave of AI development is going to involve a shift from highly application-specific narrow AI to more flexible and autonomous Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). The transition to this next wave will occur via network effects spanning AI developers, software and hardware product developers, large enterprises and consumer product users. Whomever best stimulates these network effects will have the best chance at a prominent role in the emerging world of decentralized AI, and many different industry verticals.

DAIA President Toufi Saliba is giving the closing keynote speech on the topic “The necessity of autonomous decentralized governance for AI.”

DAIA Director of Development Chantel Costa is speaking on the Panel: “What Decentralization Offers the AI Ecosystem” — Blockchain technology has provided numerous benefits to many different industries across many different verticals. But what can blockchain actually do for the AI ecosystem? Can decentralization bring the power of AI back into the hands of the people and out of the hands of big tech giants?

More panels and DAIA members speaking to be announced…

Matrix AI Network have initiated the public test for its very new AI GPU Algorithm for blockchain mining operation. The brand-new algorithm will enable further development of the blockchain network’s growing need, yet, more importantly, bridging between AI algorithms such as Deep Learning, Neural Network, and the Blockchain.

This means the vast computing power of distributed mining nodes can be tapped to meaningful AI projects. Instead of solving the hash puzzle, it solves the gradient decent for a neural network, each node uses verifiable random number to get its own data shards. The distributed “learning” serves as the proof of work.

The test of the new algorithm will last for around 3 months before officially rolling out on the Matrix main blockchain network. It can be expected that the distributed network volume to a scale of “fog” computing power, this will be a much innovative, safer, and cost-effective industry role versus the centralized Cloud computing enterprises.

On Wednesday, July 10th Effect.ai launched its microtasking platform Effect Force on the EOS Mainnet. Effect Force is the phase 1 platform of The Effect Network, (TEN). Within the first ten days, over 1k active users connected their accounts and began working on the platform, completing over 1.7million tasks in the first few weeks.

Furthering their dedication to being a democratic & decentralized network for artificial intelligence, Effect.AI has been busy elevating AI to a new practical level with a man-machine combination called The Effect Network (TEN). TEN can be seen as a framework for applications that require a combination of machine and human intelligence.

Effect.AI has put this to work by introducing the first autonomous application on top of TEN, named Rosette.AI-a shining example of how 3rd party service providers can build on TEN and connect their products.

As an active participant in the tech for good movement, Effect.AI has become the first-ever private company to get a development partnership with the United Nations! Effect.AI is on track to establish HUBS, called EFFECT AI & Blockchain Centres, across the globe. The first one is being built in Rustavi, Georgia right now.

Learning Economy and Applied AI Canada are the new members of October.

Learning Economy:

“What if educators, students, employers, and technologies could all translate value and information without sacrificing privacy or proprietary value? Learning Economy (LE) is an open, infrastructure-layer protocol that leverages blockchains (i.e. Learning Ledgers) and machine learning to quantify soft and hard skills, helping to measure which courses, content, and experiences ultimately lead to soft/hard skills, workplace advancement, and local/global impact and value. The result — real-time feedback on human capital investment and an equitable economy that pays students to learn and pays stewards for the value added to the global institution of education.”

Applied AI Canada:

Applied AI Canada is an Ottawa based Not For Profit organization focused on the adoption and application of Artificial Intelligence technology. Our mission is to create an open and enabling environment across Ottawa’s Artificial Intelligence ecosystem.”

On october 17, Dr. Deborah Duong represented DAIA and SingularityNet at AILA Life Summit discussing solutions in healthcare. She shared with was what she experienced at the event:

“At the Life Summit workshop , health industries in the LA area met with AI personnel to brainstorm on solutions to their problems. Groups were organized towards each problem. Children’s Hospital LA Innovation Lab — came with problems of teenagers having to cope with a new chronic illness and with having to transition to adult care,at which time they usually stop adhering to medications. The brainstormed solution to these problems was a gaming app to better engage the teenagers in their care,as well as a chatbot that would help transitions to adult care on a more serious note. The HMRI institute had the problem of integrating AI into multiple MRI readings , but narrowed it down to the specific problem of incentivizing patients to participate in studies at all, solved with gamification. Kaiser Permanente came with the question of whether a prediction should be made, and developed guidelines with technologists related to potential harms to patients. Kaiser also presented the problem of physician fatigue , to which their group came up with ways to keep track of patients electronically and tell the relevant information to the doctor so the doctor would have more personal and thus meaningful time with the patient. The National Association of Social Workers/CA — Technology Council wanted to know how to make their case management more efficient and came up with an app to develop a plan with tasks in it to help both case workers and their stressed clients.

I chose the Doheny institute, which says that it has the world’s largest collection of retinal images, because Singularity Net is gaining access to a similar set. Their problem was to automate the interpretation of the results of Randomized Controlled Trials of newly tested drugs, for instance, for diabetic retinopathy. Several different types of images of the retina are taken to judge the results, that are scaled from 1 to 12 in terms of eye health with 1 being the best. Our group came up with a framework by which any AI could be adjudicated by the team just as team members are, as well as specific AI solutions that can be implemented within such a framework.

In the evening, several industry leaders spoke to the larger, not “invite only” group, to talk about topics such as procedures that must be followed, the rapid acceptance of AI in the healthcare space, and barriers to its acceptance.”
