A stylish dispensary with golden pre-rolls and no lines.

The Green Cross emanates an old-school professionalism.

Multiple security guards flank the front door — they’re not messing around.

First time? Please use this perfectly mounted iPad as we speak.

Lines? No — customers get a card with a number — like a deli…for cannabis.

Allow the doorman to open the door to the back room…why not?

Do you take Visa? No…but you can use the ATM.

I was given a welcome pack with a branded lighter, sticker, rolling papers and a lanyard (not pictured…already discarded).

Also, a member’s handbook…for real. (shown in the video posted below)

Recreational cannabis stores are not allowed to give away cannabis to new customers, so the swag is a nice alternative.

Once inside, there’s no need to get in a line, so customers can browse until their number is called.

Their pre-rolls look like they would burn really well.

And for those special occasions that call for cannabis wrapped in gold, customers can avail themselves of the 24K OG Kush pre-roll.

Some dispensaries also offer cannabis seeds or young plants to customers.

Green Cross customers also have lots of options for reasonably priced glass pipes.

I’m glad I traveled to the Excelsior district of San Francisco to check out The Green Cross. It’s about 10 minutes from the Glen Park BART station by foot.

It’s very accessible by car though. Cars can use their dedicated “green curb” parking in front of the dispensary or at the tire store across the street.

According to their website, “[The Green Cross] broke the mold in 2006 by morphing into a delivery service.” Makes sense.

The Excelsior location at 4218 Mission St. opened on June 2013.

I’d be interested in trying their delivery service — it would be nice to get delivery from a known source without relying on a third party service.
