all his horses burned
his house cinders and ashes
the fire consumed all
it’s energy enormous
cold comfort, souls never die

A dear man, whom I have never met in person, but from whom I purchased one of his unique and handmade RARE bags (Reuse and Recycle Everything) a few years ago, lost his home, horses, all the wildlife he rescued and was caring for, his business, and all his belongings, and only just managed to escape with his two dogs and clothes on his back on Friday night.

The photo above is of the fire that destroyed his property in the devastating fires that are currently sweeping through Queensland and New South Wales, in Australia.

I am not sure how long before he will be up and running again. He is stating he will rebuild his business. If he does, anyone who purchases off him is helping stop preloved discarded clothes and material ending up in the landfill.

Deborah lives in Longreach, Queensland, Australia with her husband and little dog Lily. She has six adult children (and four beautiful grandchildren) who live throughout Australia. She is a published author and artist.
