#208. Seeing skyscrapers in a new light

I see skyscrapers relatively often. I’ve seen skyscrapers all across the United States. Most of the time, they’re not special to me, they’re just any just like any other building. But today, I saw skyscrapers in a new light.

Skyscrapers are an accomplished dream. Someone had to dream that building a workable skyscraper was possible. Then, someone had to apply the technology and design so that skyscrapers would be safe and affordable. It’s not enough to dream, you have to work on your dream.

Today I’ve seen skyscrapers that were literally above clouds. That dream wasn’t magically made a reality. Years, decades, of planning, scientific and architectural achievement led to building the first skyscrapers.

At the time, even ten-story buildings were an architectural feat. Now, ten-story buildings aren’t impressive at all. The world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, is 160 stories tall.

If someone accomplished a dream as breath-taking and life-changing as creating buildings that exist above the clouds, you can accomplish your dream too. The dream of building a skyscraper has stood the test of time. Technological advancements have furthered that dream to a seemingly infinite end.
