#26. 10 Followers
I didn’t know what to write about today. That was until I got a notification from Medium. DailyCupofJo has finally reached 10 followers. In what has been a recent theme. I would like to celebrate. This milestone is probably one of the smallest to be celebrate, but I’ll celebrate anyway. 10 people took the time out of their day to not only read my articles, but follow the publication. That’s amazing.
It’s only 10
This milestone seems insignificant, since I only have 10 followers. It’s not exactly a milestone that I would place on a plaque and hang up on my wall. The reason that I want to celebrate, though, is what 10 symbolizes.
10 symbolizes a lot of things. For me, the thing that 10 symbolizes the most is exponential growth. Once you hit 10, you can hit 100. Once you reach 100, you can soar to 1,000. Once you crash land in the 1,000 follower territory, you can reach for the 10,000 followers airspace. And so on and so forth. Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but 10 is a very good number.
10 also represents validation. If you have any less than 10 followers, you might as well not mention the amount you have. The same can be said about anything under 100, or even 1,000. But, I’m not on that level yet. On the level that I’m on, 10 followers is the bar. Now that I’ve reached the bar, the bar can be raised. When the bar is raised, I can achieve the exponential growth that I was talking about earlier.
I won’t get caught up
I have 10 followers on my publication. I don’t have much more on my account( I have 62 to be exact). It’s a milestone that I will celebrate, but I won’t get caught up.
Let’s be real for a second. I have 10 followers. If I wasn’t a beginner, or if I was someone looking from the outside in, I would think celebrating 10 would be pathetic. Only 10 of the millions of people on the Internet even arrived at your publication, and then chose to follow it.
I’ll be a realist. I won’t get caught up either way. I won’t be depressed because of how little followers I have. I also won’t celebrate 10 followers like I have won the lottery. It’s not a big deal, but it’s something to celebrate.
