#387. Medium is a model that needs to be followed

I came to medium.com to write a different article. I hadn’t been on medium in about a day, after publishing my last article.
All of a sudden it hits me: a new design? They mainly just changed the logo, which now looks similar to the original logo(shown above), but I know even little changes take tons of time and work. Medium tweaked their design a mere week after fundamentally changing the way we “like” content on the platform. A couple months before, they completely changed the homepage experience. They changed the look of the homepage, to the point that I changed it back so I could remember what it used to look like, without ruining the functionality of the original design. Not to mention some time before that, they added a membership program that changed the entire landscape of Medium.
Readers and writers of Medium, listen up. Medium has created a model that should inspire us. The team at Medium built this platform from the ground up and they didn’t stop when they saw success. They already reached the finish line. They already accomplished (at least one of) their goals.
Medium represents always striving to be better. They’ve thrown complacency out the window. They could’ve stuck to everything they had a year ago. No one would complain. But, they want to make this place as amazing as it can possibly get. There’s a million other platforms I could write on. But, I come back to Medium, because I know the team and the community are doing everything they can to be better every single day.
