#388. Speak up if you want people to listen

There’s no room for timidity right now. There’s no room for being embarrassed, or unsure, or whatever else you’re using as an excuse. It’s time to kick it in to high gear. You can’t drive up a mountain on neutral. You have to rev up the gas a little bit so you can get to the top. Trying to drive up a mountain on neutral is a death wish. Once you get high enough, your car will star backing up uncontrollably. The only way to fix it is to give the car some gas.
If you want people to listen, speak up. How’s anybody going to support you if they don’t know what you’re doing. How’s anybody supposed to buy your product if they don’t know it exists. How’s anybody supposed to read your book if they didn’t even know you wrote one. How’s a doctor supposed to diagnose a problem if you won’t tell him the symptoms.
Nobody’s going to be able to hear your whisper. If you want people to listen, speak like you deserve their attention. You might have to say things a little louder than you are used to. You may just have to scream to get people to listen. If nobody can hear you, go get a bullhorn!
I’ve never seen a person timidly talk into a bullhorn. It doesn’t match up. Because when somebody grabs a bullhorn, they need people to listen. If you’re using a bullhorn to talk, you can’t afford for people to not hear your message.
Get your message out there.
Speak up!
It’s the only way people will listen.
