Samsung’s Note 7 explosion setback.

The guts of an exploded Galaxy Note 7

It seems like every year this happens. Inevitably, there is one flagship phone, tablet, or laptop that has to be recalled. Usually, it’s because of a battery or processor issue. This year is no different. This time, it’s Samsung’s end of the year flagship, the Galaxy Note 7, that is falling victim to a recall.

This one’s bad

Most recalled phones don’t present such a huge hazard. The Galaxy Note 7 is a different story. Samsung is recalling its Galaxy Note 7 because of the possibility of it exploding while charging. If that’s not something that would keep a Note 7 user up at night, I don’t know what will. This recall is bad for everyone. It’s bad for the US government because they have to enforce the recall of the Note 7. It’s bad for Samsung because they both lose money and tarnish their reputation in one fail swoop. It’s bad for the consumers because they have to return their Note 7s and have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get back to where they could’ve been with the phone.

Samsung’s New Administration

After Chairman Lee suddenly fell ill due to acute myocardial infarction in 2014,Vice-Chairman Lee Jae-yong became the leader of Samsung. This new administration has done revolutionary things for Samsung, and has led them back to the top of the mountain when it comes to smartphones. The last 2 years have been great for Samsung’s progression. They’ve not only surpassed Apple in sales, but they’ve widen the gap.

This recall have taken them back to where they started. Now, they’re losing tons of money trying to ship out these recalls as fast as possible. Next, they have to release the Samsung Galaxy S8 a little faster than normal, in order to keep the credibility that they still have. Also, they have one of the most powerful governments in the world making sure they execute the recall properly. It’s a disaster. Samsung just lost more money than I can even imagine.
