Our mission is to make traveling far easier because we want more people doing it — and we want to connect more people across the world … Human connection defines us and I believe we can use more of it.

We’re starting with an app designed specifically for same-day bookings with locals. We’re building for spontaneous travelers all while empowering a new type of host — because hosts do not all want to live by a calendar.

We are dedicated to bringing people together, and creating a marketplace for sustainable and responsible home sharing.

This is the first step, and we will not stop.

Booking on Overnight 2.0

Booking on Overnight 2.0 is entirely different and way more straight forward. Here’s a bit about how it works if you need a place to stay tonight:

Open the app, and book in two taps. That’s it. (get the app here by the way)

When you open the app in Overnight 2.0, you’re seeing listings from hosts right around you, that are the most relevant to you. They’re close, they respond very quickly, and you may even have a few mutual friends with them. It’s really cool.

Mutual friends
If you’re in a new city, try pulling out Overnight and seeing if there are hosts in the area that you have mutual friends with — it’s pretty awesome and a great way to find a friendly face in a new place.

Multiple nights

Many times we’ve had folks ask about booking multiple nights and we started by adding “rebook” in March of this year. Now we’ve finally added a way for people to book multiple nights up front, without the concern that they may lose a place or not have a place to stay after night one.

Important changes in Overnight 2.0

Response times
Respond within minutes. Now that folks have their phones on them at any given time — well, times, they are a changin’.

Whether you’re a host or a guest, speed matters. Our community is build on mobile and our response times are fast … Hosts who get bookings respond very fast and we’re building product to support that — when a host receives a request they must now respond within ten minutes.

Toggle your privacy

Want extra privacy for your listing? Toggle Host Privately to ON in the Hosting Center.

Toggling your privacy simply means that you are making your name and face hidden from your profile to avoid un-wanted on-lookers from your listings and their association with you.

In Spontaneity We Trust:

Overnight stays are bringing spontaneous people together all over and today we’re launching New York City along with V2 of our product. The stays on Overnight are primarily with locals — like you’re booking an extra bedroom in their home … This means we’re bringing people together and providing an extremely unique local experience. It’s not a vacation-rental experience — it’s truly home-sharing. (I’m writing this from my host’s dining room table in New York City).

We’ve seen extra bedrooms, entire places, sofas, beds in boats, hexi-yurts, and other awesome places but the most important thing isn’t the four walls that shelter people for last-minute stays — it’s the local experience the host provides, and what’s on the other side of those four walls.

We’ve officially launched Los Angeles, San Francisco, Austin TX and now New York City. Live somewhere else and want to host? Add your listing and we’ll be there as soon as possible — thousands of hosts have added beautiful listings in more than 45 countries.

Cheers,

Asher
