Two dentists are in a bitter rivalry and the espionage between them is beginning to endanger their patients.

It was all fun and games until Dave switched out her Novocain.

Dana was a good sport. It comes with the territory of opening an office with a prankster. Dr. Dave & Dana’s Dentistry was a nice alliteration for sure. But the pranks have gone too far.

It started with little things. Dana replaced the ceiling poster in Dave’s office with an unflattering picture. Dave rebelled by photoshopping Dana’s face onto the same picture and putting it on the ceiling of her office.

Then Dana hid Dave’s floss under the counter. Dave did the same but also filled the cabinet with balloons.

Next Dana replaced Dave’s dentist kit with a children’s version of it of course putting his real tools safely under the counter. And that’s when Dana should have expected retaliation when she next walked into the office.

Her first appointment was a routine filling. All her tools were in their regular place and she didn’t think much of there being nothing out of the ordinary. Really she should have double and triple checked all of her supplies. She re-stearalized her equipment as she always did in the morning, but did little else. The she dawned her gloves and set to work on her first patient. She prepared the syringe and gave the Novocain injection before waiting for the anesthesia to kick in.

The anesthesia didn’t kick in. 20 minutes later and the patient could still feel everything.

“Are you or anyone in your family resistant to anesthesia?”

“No, I’ve gotten fillings before without issue”

Dana checked the vial on the counter she had used. Saline. Her Novocain was under the counter in the pink child’s dentist kit she gave Dave.

“I’m so sorry we’re going to need to do another injection”

She was going to have a word with Dave.
