Chapter 2 — Verse 62

dhyaayato vishayaanpusaha sangastoshupajaayate

sangaatsanjayate kaamaha kaamaatkrodhobhijaayate

Summary

When a man thinks of objects, attachment for them arises. From attachment arises desire. From desire arises wrath.

Attachment for objects arises when man thinks of them specifically about their beauty or how it will make life better for him. Man dreams about owning things all his life. When he is young he may want gadgets or toys like expensive cellphones, fast cars and other electronic gizmos. As he grows older he will want to possess a beautiful house or houses, more cars and money to help him buy more things. If there is any obstruction to possessing these objects that gives rise to wrath in him or her. Thus the lesson being taught here is not be attached to objects and be free of the impending wrath as well so we can train ourselves to be of steady mind and learn to move forward in the path of Karma Yoga.
