Your Reality Is Up to You

What stories are you telling yourself otherwise?

Creation stories are incredible. We read or hear them and they resonate with a deep part of us, but we fail to recognize that it’s a universal story taking place every single day.

Artists get it — writers, painters, dancers, animators, actors. But they aren’t the only ones who get to live it. Nothing appears out of thin air. We create every day — our work, relationships, home, reality — our whole world.

Each word we speak, every move we make, everything we do is part of a larger creation story. And within that story is another story — the story of connection. We create and bring others in. Perhaps they contribute. That which is created becomes it’s own thing, has it’s own life because of the collaboration between people — all creators. It’s fascinating when you think about it.

But here’s the rub … when we are in the trenches, in the thick of things, down and dirty with work piled over our heads, we don’t see it. And we are in that place a lot. The world expects it of us: Don’t just sit there. DO something. Move. Get ahead.

We see, live in, experience our daily existence instead of the bigger picture. We lament over our looming to-do lists, our chores, the needs of our children and families … and we feel stuck. We trap ourselves in the story … too much to do, not enough time, going nowhere fast.

They are part of the same story that says we need more and we aren’t enough as we are.

STOP. All lies.

There is so much more going on than we realize, and those negative mind patterns are part of a larger lack story. They exist BECAUSE we never stop. We actually get LESS done because we never stop.

And trust me, living in your head alone will get you nowhere — except crazy, maybe.

Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.*

I can preach because I’ve been there. I still go there more often than I’d like to admit, but here’s the thing … I see it. In myself and others.

With awareness there is choice, and with choice there are options — and with options, there is creation.

Stop. Drop in. Feel. Breathe. Create. Embody. Your reality is yours to create. The world is waiting.
