Here’s My 30 Day Notice to Medium: Pay or Quit!

How many writers will stick around if things don’t change for the better?

Today is February 1, 2025, and it’s been roughly 3 months since I really began to take notice of my plummeting stats and earnings.

✅ In November 2024, as I began to sense things weren’t adding up like they should, I shrugged it off, like maybe I was seeing things, and my suspicious were wrong.

✅ In December 2024, I felt like crap, because things were looking even worse, and part of me assumed that somehow it must be all my fault, and that it was only happening to me.

✅ By January 2025, I knew for sure that something very wrong was going on with our stats and earnings, and practically the entire community was talking about it.

I don’t know what exactly Medium did to our stats, or how they plan to fix it, but I know they have a huge problem brewing, if they don’t find a quick resolution — one that involves recalculating and compensating writers for the earnings they should have received.

Personally, I don’t see any other way for them to try and clean up the colossal mess that the current algorithm has made of things.

Since coming to that realization, I’ve tried to be patient and see where things are headed. especially after Medium FINALLY acknowledged that something was wrong and that they “hear” the cries and complaints coming from loyal members who are legitimate writers.

I think I’ve been pretty damn patient so far. I’ve also continued writing, reading, and engaging; but only just enough so my followers know I haven’t left the platform yet.

However, I have to admit, now that the first month of the new year has come and gone, my patience with Medium is wearing thin.

That’s why I’m giving Medium my 30 Day Notice about quitting. They currently have one more month to correct whatever the heck has been going on, and make me believe things will be different (for the better).
