When you ask a person what their personal plan is, to help save democracy, they’ll probably respond with the most obvious answer that should come to mind:
VOTE!
But believe it or not, we who find ourselves fortunate enough to have a voice on the Medium website— or any other writing platform — also have another excellent way that we can do our part to help secure the freedoms that democracy affords us.
Whether you already voted early, or you’re planning to cast your vote on Tuesday, November 6th, there’s still a whole lot more you can do.
As writers, we have an opportunity, and the advantage of having a platform, to use as a megaphone to make our voices heard.
But besides that, we also have a responsibility…
In my opinion, our responsibility as writers, is not to simply waste the gift of our writing talents, by ONLY writing about the things in the world that are inconsequential and carry no weight.
