Will Medium give more bonuses like this one on the next payout?

If you’re a fairly new member on Medium, you probably don’t know anything about the bonus payments they used to dole out like candy on Halloween. 👻

Well maybe not that freely, because not everyone who knocked at the door — so to speak, received a treat back then.

But when I started on Medium in May of 2021, they were still handing out bonus payments, like it was Valentine’s Day, at the very least. 💔

Just like on Valentine’s Day, the bonus payments were given to those writers who were determined to be special, for whatever reason.

I was thinking about this lately, because even though I happened to join the platform around the time they were about to phase the bonuses out, I was still fortunate enough to receive a bonus in August of that year.

Can you imagine my delight, less than 3 months after joining Medium, and getting the following email (along with the image you see in the cover of this story). 😄

Wooh hooo! I was on top of the world, not just because of the extra and unexpected money, but also because I actually felt valued by Medium — like maybe they really saw me.

The email explained why I had earned the bonus, and I was even more appreciative, especially since the bonuses were ending for the time being.

For all those readers who weren’t around back then, and don’t know anything about the bonuses Medium used to give, here is what the old email I dug up had to say.
