Day 43: The difference between roasting and baking
Published in

I was writing up a recipe for baked (roasted?) asparagus, and clearly wasn’t sure which word was right to use.
Bottom line: They are the same thing. Cooking something in an oven.
I found some sources that said that roasting is done at higher temps (400F and up), whereas baking is at lower temps. But the source that I ended up believing dispelled that claim.
Obviously, which word you use kinda depends on what you’re cooking. You wouldn’t roast a cake, for example.
Anyway, that’s today’s. Short and sweet.
