It’s never what you wanted it to be

We always wish we had more time to make it into something better.

Just one more day, one more hour, one more revision. Then we look back and see all the mistakes and missed opportunities.

The bite of the deadline forms and moulds our work. It doesn’t make it worse, it makes our work physical. Without a deadline, our work would end up as dreams or sketches, never seeing the light of day. I know I’ve got drawers full of that shit.

Our work never turns out how we hope it would. It’s never what you thought it would be. It’s never what you wanted it to be, but that’s OK.

It’s real. It’s published. It’s live. You’ve made something instead of procrastinating on it for another week.

Be proud you’ve finished it. Now get working on the next thing.
