Let’s face it — storms are scary — and if you have a reactive dog or cat, you’re probably wondering how you’ll get through the loud thunder and pounding rainstorms of summer. We want to make sure you know there are new technological advances designed to help you and your pets get through stormy weather.

While not everyone equates technology and pets, we’re seeing a huge increase in the number of gadgets that can help keep pets calm and entertained during stressful times. Here are a few of our favorite technology picks!

1. Calmz Anxiety Relief System

The CALMZ Anxiety Relief System utilizes several proven modalities to keep dogs calm during storm. The soft mesh harness is positioned strategically on your pet to reach the main pressure points on the spine. In addition, the unit has a vibration system that fits right at the base of your dog’s neck and gently stimulates the region of the brain known to calm. You can also add sound to a mix with a selection of music composed for keeping pets calm.

There are 8 programs to chose from. The briefest is a 6 minute therapy with no repeat. The longest setting is 18 minutes of therapy followed by 102 minutes of rest time, repeated for an 8 hour session.

2. ZenCrate for Dogs

This is one of the newest approaches to keeping pets calm by combining music therapy and crate training. The open design and acoustics of the enclosure help eliminate outside noises and keep music inside the crate. It also includes vibration-damping technology to eliminate sound vibration from outside sources (like planes, thunder, and heavy machinery).

The “smart” crate identifies when a pet enters the area and automatically begins playing calming music. The open design allows a pet to choose when he needs it, the attractive design fits nicely in any decor.

The ZenCrate design helps address the drivers of animal anxiety by using these technologies:

  • vibration isolation
  • noise cancellation
  • comfort
  • security
  • reduced light
  • self-administration

Simply take the cube from it’s packaging and press play — charge as needed via your USB port on your computer. No need to plug it in, which makes PetAcoutics perfect for any room.
